General Services Administration (GSA) Registration

As the acquisition arm of the federal government, GSA plays a vital role in connecting the private sector with federal agencies fulfilling their business needs.

GSA offers professional services, equipment, supplies, telecommunications, and information technology from commercial businesses to government organizations and the military through acquisition solutions from its Federal Acquisition Service (FAS).

Understanding the Basics

“Schedules” is shorthand for the Federal Supply Schedules (FSS) and Multiple Award Schedules (MAS). These are large, long-term, governmentwide contracts. Schedules connect government buyers to business in order to source compliant products and services at fair and reasonable prices. The large contract vehicles allow streamlined, technology-based orders that reduce administrative time for both buyers and sellers.

Learn About the GSA Program from USFCR

Watch this short video to learn about USFCR's unique GSA Schedule service and how it saves you time and money and mitigates acceptance risk.

USFCR’s GSA Program

We’ve worked with tens of thousands of businesses to get them properly registered in the federal marketplace. As a business owner, your time, attention, and resources are limited. Mistakes with federal registrations can cause delays and may result in fines. USFCR saves you time, money, and eliminates non-compliance risk.

It can take several months and significant time and resources to apply to get on the GSA Schedule. And, there is no guarantee you will be approved. There are GSA service providers who will attempt to get your product or service on the GSA for an upfront fee, which can range from thousands to tens of thousands of dollars. Again, there is still no guarantee you’ll be accepted.

USFCR has a different, risk-free approach to getting on the GSA Schedule. Our GSA Program allows you to pay monthly installments until your product or service is either on the GSA or is denied. If you are denied, the installments stop. If you are accepted, the total you pay is still substantially lower than most other service providers.

Certification Benefits

A GSA schedule makes it easier for the government to buy from your business. When one is set up, the government can simply go online and purchase your product with one click. It's like ecommerce for the U.S. government.

All successful federal vendors will at some point get on a GSA schedule. So the real question is not "if" you should get on the schedule, but "when" you should.

This all depends on the schedule. In many cases, a vendor will hit the maximum available quantities listed on the schedule. You should always make sure you are ready to fulfill the orders that come from a GSA schedule. Some vendors might have their entire warehouse stock bought out by the government before the end of the fiscal year.

Benefits of the GSA schedule include:

  • More than $30B flows through the GSA each year
  • Includes over 17,000 contracts with industry suppliers (FY18)
  • Over 38% of FY18 sales went to small businesses
  • Over 80% of GSA contracts consistently go to small businesses (FY15-FY18)

Program Qualifications

The GSA requires any business that submits an offer meet several qualifications and guidelines. We include below a few mandatory requirements. There may be additional documents and information required, depending on the schedule under which you’re submitting your offer. The basic requirements below apply to all schedules:

  • Not have been previously canceled from the GSA
  • Be an established business in good standing
  • Minimum of 2 years in business
  • Proof of positive cash flow

Length of Registration

GSA Schedules can last up to 20 years. You must have at least $25,000 dollars in sales in the first 2 years and then $25,000 in sales each period after to maintain your schedule. You will also get a 5 year review to make sure you are aware of any compliance issues that may occur.
